The English course is a balanced presentation of the language arts encompassing spelling, vocabulary, grammar mechanics, reading and creative writing. The curriculum is taught in accordance with
application to speaking and writing.
7th
The English course is a continuation of language arts skills taught in the sixth grade and the elementary school. Subjects covered are spelling, vocabulary development, grammar mechanics, writing
skills and a transition from reading to literature. The curriculum is Bible-based and focuses on the life application of language arts skills to both the written and the spoken word.
8th
The English course is taught with a desire to develop a life-long appreciation for quality literature. The curriculum includes both fiction and nonfiction emphasizing Christian character-building
principles. The study includes the novel, short story, poetry and biography. Students will also continue to study grammar with an emphasis on becoming strong writers.
Middle School English is supplemented with: Daily Grams, Vocabulary Vine, Easy Writing and Excellence in Writing.
Excellence in Writing
This writing program for students lays a solid foundation of writing skills. Students learn to effectively use a wide range of structural models and stylistic techniques in composition. This method has proven effective to even the most reluctant writers. It incrementally inspires and transforms students as they write with clear structure and compelling style.
